The Little Carphatians and the Danubian Lowland make up most of this region's terrain. The central point is Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Although Bratislava is one of the youngest capitals in Europe, it has a rich history. One of the historical dominants of Bratislava is Bratislava Castle. The city's historical center has many galleries, museums and sacral buildings. The largest wine-growing region in Slovakia is the Little Carpathian wine-growing region located on the eastern side of the Little Carpathians mountain range. Former royal cities – Stätý Jur, Pezinok, Modra – along with other towns offer tourists a taste of the unique atmosphere of typical Little Carpathian wineries, local culinary specialties, cultural and social events. This region is great for active tourism, cultural and historical tourism, cycling along the river Morava, fishing and summer sports. Slnečné jazerá resort in Senec is one of the most visited recreational centers in Slovakia.
